Walmart Employee Trampled to Death: Black Friday Walmart Stampede

A Walmart employee was trampled to death in Long Island, as consumers adopted a 'herd mentality' over saving $200 on a new TV. The impatient crowd knocked over and trampled the man, identified by police as 34 year old Jdimytai Damour, as he opened the doors, leaving a metal portion of the frame crumpled like an accordion. Several other Walmart employees were injured as they tried to rescue their fallen co-worker.

"He was bum-rushed by 200 people," said Jimmy Overby, 43, a co-worker. "They took the doors off the hinges. He was trampled and killed in front of me. They took me down too...I literally had to fight people off my back."

According to Nassau police spokesman Lt. Michael Fleming, the Long Island crowd was "out of control" and the scene was "utter chaos." Police said criminal charges were possible in the case, but Fleming said it would be difficult to identify individual shoppers. Authorities are reviewing surveillance video.

Kimberly Cribbs, who witnessed the stampede, said shoppers were acting like "savages."
"When they were saying they had to leave, that an employee got killed, people were yelling 'I've been on line since yesterday morning,'" she said. "They kept shopping."
